How do we get this thing called soap, from all the oils and butters we start with? It is such a fascinating process (especially for an under-cover scientist, like me! :)

So many people ask me how the process of soapmaking works. And very many are quit surprised when I tell them, Lye is involved.  ”Lye!?” they say.  I say, “Yes, Lye. No Lye, No soap! :) ”
