chemicalsSo, someone hands you a pretty bottle, and tells you lather up and slather this on your skin before you apply your daily moisturizer. You take a look at the label, which  says “phthalate,” and you ask them “what is it?” They say, oh, it’s nothing just something to help our lotion go on better. It’s only been shown to cause liver damage and testes shrinkage in lab rats, and it’s only a “possible’ carcinogen, so it’s ok.  Just use it! TRUST ME!”  Would you do it?

There are many skincare products on the market made with questionable and dangerous ingredients. They are there, sometimes in small amounts, but can still have ill effects with continual use.  Honestly, the same results can be reached with the use of healthy lifestyle methods and natural skincare products.  So what ingredients should you be aware of?  To name a few:

* synthetic fragrances
* Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or SLS
* Phthalates
* Parabens

Wednesday, we’ll talk about each of these harmful chemicals and the negative effects they’ve been shown to have.
