Homeschooling Consumption

We have been consumed by preparing for the new school year at our house. Momma (that’s me!) has been online, wrapping up a 6 months worth of curriculum research (homeschool.com is excellent for this!), and making final purchases. Today, we spent the day re-organizing the school room, and prepping it for 3nd grade. DD had really great time!! She’s very excited.
We start our school year round about April each year. We can do this because we school year round. The way we do it is – 4 day school week, all year around, with 7 weeks of vacation time that we can take whenever we need to. This way, we can remain flexible, Dd never has a ton of vacation time where she can forget everything she learned the year before, and we’re in school for the summer when we can take advantage of the weather and have BEAUTIFUL nature studies!
We decided to go with a combination of 3 different curriculum. CLP for reading, language arts, Bible and science; Abeka for arithmetic; and Sonlight for their awesome History/Geography. We’re really looking forward to an exciting year!
